About this deal

You can set commands for each button, as well as combination keys for the two top buttons, and two lower buttons, for a total of 6 unique button commands.

They are different, expensive, but so much easier and actually reduce wrist stress especially combined with an ergonomic keyboard. The different panels and surface breakups, and especially the notched texture of the scroll ring, give the Expert a uniquely high-tech feel, reminiscent of dystopian cyberpunk aesthetics. While many ambidextrous designs have come and go, the Kensington Expert has outlasted most of them.

The Kensington Expert is very large and very sturdy, and won’t be moving around at all while using it.

Assign custom features to the top button. Note: the top button can only be programmed to perform one function at a time. The symmetrical design and simple grid layout make casual use very natural and comfortable once you find your preferred hand placement and layout. Just toggle the switch to 2.4 mode, plug the receiver in to your computer, install the 2 included AA baterries to get rolling. The sheer size of the Kensington Expert does mean you will still need to use side to side wrist movement, which may plave even more strain on your wrist. The Kensington Expert’s styling is simple, yet bold and sophisticated. From the side, a simple triangular wedge and semi-circle.

At first, without the palm rest I like how my palm rests comfortably on the desk but with my palm up against the contoured front of this model the ball position feels different from the old one under my fingers. System requirements: PC running Windows 98 or later with an available USB port.** Mac® running OS X or later with an available USB Port.** Internet connections or CD ROM drives to install the software.** Compatible with Windows®7, Windows® XP, Windows Vi Even as a right-handed person, using this with your left hand still feels natural and easy for general use purposes. UPDATE: Basically 60 days into ownership and the revised ergonomics of this model (versus my original vintage serial/PS2 Expert Mouse) have been totally fine for extended daily usage periods with my short fingers without the optional gel palm rest.

Oh and finally I found the scroll wheel - it's a flipping dial - it's a ring surrounding the ball - PITA to avoid pressing a button! slight ridging so easy to find by touch and use. Some users have reported scroll ring failures within about 6 months with regular use. I haven't had mine that long yet but we'll see... Kensington worked directly with Microsoft to provide professional-level solutions that look as good as they function, so you can work like a pro.

The height and angle mean it is best to use the provided foam and pleather pad, unless you like wrist pain. Ease of Usage For whomever has complained about the stiff, hard ball movement, as a regular daily user of an original Kensington Expert Mouse that I've had since I bought it new literally 20 years ago (in the days of Windows 3.1) I must say that they are wrong, period. This goes double for using USB 3.0 ports and multiple wireless devices, which are notorious for causing signal interference. Kensingtonworks SoftwareTo activate Bluetooth pairing mode, you simply toggle the switch to Bluetooth mode, which is found on the bottom of the device. Look for exclamation or question marks to the left of it (exclamation or question marks are red or yellow in color). If either of these marks appear we will need to uninstall the device entirely and allow it to be re-discovered by the system. The scroll ring was very crunchy and stiff and jerky while feeling a bit loose and wobbly and made noise at the two stiffest areas as I moved the ring but the more I use it the less stiff it has gotten and changing the windows mouse scroll rate setting has made the scroll ring's action totally predictable and considering the fact that the older ones didn't have any scroll wheel or scroll ring I'm happy to have gotten this capability added even if the quality of the mechanism for it isn't quite as nice as every other part of this very well performing unit. Magnifier allows the presenter to zoom in on the designated area the presenter would like to explain in detail. This is recommended when presenting financial reports and other areas with a high volume of information.
