Shaking off the stuffy image of gents in suits, the sixth-generation, female-owned production house of Maxime Trijol is run by sisters – the master distiller and cellar master, no less – and has created this beauty: a delicate and elegant Cognac aged between 10-40 years with notes of orange rind, honey and spice.

The Roquefort’s sharp, tangy, salty flavor stands up to the richness of the XO and brings out its unique profile. Don’t be deceived the rather regal appearance of this Rémy Martin: inside are smooth, mellow and well-balanced flavours that makes for seriously easy-drinking. Towards the end of the nasal perception, there’s creamy marzipan, a perfume-like orange peel aroma, elegantly rounded off by luscious vanilla. The drink is strongly ingrained in US Hip Hop culture with Busta Rhymes and P Diddy dedicating the song “Pass the Courvoisier” to the traditional brand.

You could certainly pour the Courvoisier XO into your favorite cocktails, even though most people would probably recommend sipping it neat when trying it for the first time. A minimum of four years ageing in French oak barrels has created this Cognac – part of Co-op’s premium Irresistible range – with a smooth and rich profile that sings of caramel and baked apple flavours.

Rich but elegant, it’s bursting with fragrant aromas of gingerbread, brioche and apples, while cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper and oak dance on the palate. With notes of silkness and tones of orange, it makes this drink perfect for a little tipple or a wonderful infused cocktail. It’s made from high-acid, low-alcohol ugni blanc grapes that are fermented, twice-distilled, and then matured in oak barrels before blending and bottling.A glass of cognac and room temperature will allow you to fully enjoy this wonderful cognac, although an ice cube will not hurt either. In this case, roasted almonds, slightly salted, or dried apricots make for an excellent flavor enhancer.
